Production Management

Whittle Me This is a highly mixed media short film that utilized 2D animation, 3D animation, paper cut out, live action, and stop motion. It was produced within a 30 week time span.

While I was a co-director throughout the duration of this film, I was also acting as a co-producer. Many of my tasks included task and asset organization and tracking, deadline enforcement, scheduling, and creating opportunities for team bonding activities! While all of these tasks are vital, that last one was very important to me!

*Please note that I did not create this system alone! Whittle Me This was a very intense and collaborative project that required many creative problem solvers to put their heads together and create a sucessful system!
Shot List
Our shot list was one of the most important documents of the film. Because our film was highly mixed media, we devised a shot list that would allow us to not only track the overall completion status of each shot, but also the completion status of every medium that was included within each shot. This sheet was shared with all of the crew members so they could be in communication with one another if there was ever a hold up.
During our tri-weekly check-ins, I would go through this spreadsheet with the assistance of my co-producer and speak to each artist in order to make sure everything was as up to date as possible.
2D & 3D Asset Tracker
We utilized an organizational system that tracked every 2D and 3D asset created through the entirety of this film. This spreadsheet made it very easy to add new assets and keep track of its progress. Similar to our shot list, during pre-production, my co-producer and I would talk to each artist individually to check completion status, as well as assign new assets to create.
Guides
There were several in-depth guides that were created in order to make sure every artist had plenty of direction from first starting a shot, to preparing for their final export. These guides included things such as references, important links, naming conventions, and much more. This animation guide was created by myself and my co-director. It was the primary source for all of our animations to refer back to. However, if they ever had questions we would gladly answer. We would also add any answers to these questions within the guide in case other crew members had the same questions.
